1Who can join

The program is for businesses that install roofing and exterior products. To join and stay in the program, your company must:

• hold any contractor license required where you work;
• carry general liability insurance;
• give us accurate information about your company, your service area and your contact details.

2Getting certified

• Sign up. Enter your company details, service area and Quality Edge rep, and accept these terms.
• Pass the exam. The certification exam has 25 questions and a 30-minute time limit. You pass with a score of 80% or higher. If you don't pass, you can retake it right away. After three failed attempts in a row, you'll need to wait 24 hours before trying again.
• Get approved. Quality Edge reviews every application, typically within two business days. We may approve or decline any application. If we decline yours, we'll tell you why, and you can fix the problem and resubmit.
• Send your documents. Upload your certificate of insurance and your contractor license (where one is required) within 30 days of approval, and keep them current.

3How long certification lasts

Certification lasts 24 months. You can renew during the last 60 days by passing the exam again; your new term starts from your old expiry date. If your certification expires, your badge, profile and marketing kit stop working until you renew.

4Your badge and the program's name

While you are certified, you may use the Backed By The Bolt badge, name, certificate and marketing kit to promote your business. You agree to:

• use them only as supplied, without changing the artwork, colors or wording;
• use them only for your own company and only while your certification is current;
• stop using them, and remove them from your website, vehicles, signs and printed materials, if your certification expires or is removed.

The Backed By The Bolt name and badge belong to Quality Edge. Using them does not give your company any ownership of them.

5Your profile and your content

You are responsible for everything you put on your profile, including your photos, descriptions, services and logo, and for keeping it accurate. Only upload photos and logos you own or have permission to use. You give Quality Edge permission to display your content on the program website and to use your company name, logo and project photos to promote the program. We review logos before they are printed on co-branded materials, and we may remove content that is inaccurate or inappropriate.

6Homeowner inquiries

Homeowners can contact you through your profile. Their details are sent to you only so you can respond to their inquiry. Don't sell or share them, or use them for anything else. Quality Edge does not promise any number of inquiries or any amount of work.

7Samples and sales materials

Certified contractors can request free samples and sales materials for use with their own customers. Quantities and availability are up to Quality Edge. Larger quantities and made-to-order items, such as roof displays, need approval from your Quality Edge rep before they ship.

8Your work is your responsibility

Your company is independent. You are not an employee, agent or franchisee of Quality Edge. You are responsible for your own work, pricing, contracts, permits, safety, workmanship and compliance with building codes and the manufacturer's installation instructions. Certification shows that you passed the program's exam. It is not a guarantee of any particular job. Quality Edge product warranties are governed by their own terms, and the program does not change them.

9Suspension and removal

Quality Edge may suspend or remove your certification, your profile or your access to the program if, for example:

• your insurance or license lapses;
• you give false or misleading information;
• you misuse the badge or the program's name;
• we receive serious or repeated complaints about your work;
• you don't follow these terms.

You can leave the program at any time by contacting us. If you leave, stop using the badge and program materials.

10Your information

We use the information you give us to run the program: reviewing your application, showing your profile, connecting you with your Quality Edge rep, and sending program emails such as reminders and renewal notices. See our privacy policy for more detail.

11Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll ask you to accept the new version from your dashboard before you continue in the program.
